Iran is prepared to restart nuclear talks with the United States provided that it is treated with "respect" and "honor", Iran's top diplomat has announced.

The Iranian diplomat declared only diplomacy was effective, and revealed fresh requests had come from intermediaries to resume negotiations with the US government. He claimed Iran possessed no undeclared nuclear sites, and Iran had not yet reached a point to permit the International Atomic Energy Agency to access bombed nuclear sites for security reasons.

Walking a Complex Route

The foreign minister is treading a challenging route since Iran does not want appear to be proceeding from a position of disadvantage, and he insisted repeatedly that Iran had emerged more powerful defensively and mentally from the Israeli-US attack on its nuclear sites in June.

He was talking at a strategic meeting in Tehran where he reaffirmed that Iran had "a fundamental entitlement to refine atomic fuel domestically that it will perpetually retain" – the main reason of the deadlock in the prior discussions.

Prior Talks Abruptly Terminated

The foreign minister declared: "Tehran was not the one that had abandoned negotiations; it was the United States and the European states that had always attempted to enforce their desires during the negotiations. Dialogue can still be alive and stays the final resolution to settle disputes, but its standards, regulations and fundamentals must be followed."
